  Jim O'Hern

James O'Hern has been in Corporate Learning and Leadership Development for most of his twenty-five year career. Jim started in Sales Force Effectiveness at United Airlines where he was a Senior Consultant for 8 years. During this time he completed a Masters Degree at The American University/NTL Institute program in Human Resources Development. Jim later spent 12 years at Marriott International - 8 years on Marriott's global team - with a 3 year assignment in Frankfurt - and he built a management development practice for the company in Washington, London, Frankfurt, Cairo, Mexico City, Hong Kong, Sydney, and London. In this assignment Jim completed the Gestalt Institute program in International Organization Development in Frankfurt. Jim later served as Vice-President, Worldwide Learning Resources for Marriott International. In 2003 Jim began a focus on Executive Development and became Director of Leadership Development at Honeywell International, and in 2007 Jim moved to Hess Corporation, where he is again coordinating learning and employee development across the business. Hess is a $42B independent oil and gas supplier with global exploration and production, and is a leading provider of Energy solutions to the Eastern United States, where it also manages 1300 retail operations.

  Lance Tukell

Lance Tukell, currently a Director of Global Training & Development at Chartis International (formerly AIG), is a highly skilled Training and Development leader with over 20 years experience in the field. He has assumed many roles in the Training and Development arena which have included team leader, instructional designer, project manager, and trainer within a variety of industries including finance, sales, technology, telecommunications, film and video, and healthcare. Past employers include Canon USA and the National Institutes of Health. Lance's strengths are his superior communication skills, motivational speaking, demonstrated leadership ability, team and project management, and commitment to customers and quality. Lance, who works in Manhattan and lives in Brooklyn, N.Y., has an M.S. in Instructional Design from Capella University, and is a graduate of New York University's Multimedia Production Program.
 
  Patrick Dail

Patrick has worked in the L&D environment for more than a decade, largely in the higher education space where he has worked with hiring managers and SMEs to design, development and deliver workforce skills training programs for unemployed and underemployed men and women. Although down-sized earlier this year, he recently took a Director role with the City University of New York in the system's School of Professional Studies where he is responsible for managing a portfolio of large-scale public sector training initiatives. Patrick joined the ASTD NY Metro chapter in the Fall of 2007, volunteering initially for the Programming committee; most recently he has served the membership as VP for External Liaisons during CY2010. Patrick earned his BA in European History at McDaniel College in Maryland, and his MBA through the University of Phoenix's online campus. The PMP and CPLP are next on his academic goal horizon. His passions in life are his 5 nieces and nephews in Baltimore, employee engagement through talent management and the hunt for the perfect banana-nutella crepe.
 
 

Anupa Naik

Anupa Naik has over nineteen years of experience in various industries and functions, and a robust career in learning and development. Combining almost fifteen years in L&D as both an internal Manager/Director and an external consultant, Anupa brings a well-rounded perspective to the learning experience. Anupa has been an active member in ASTDNY as a participant in the chapter, the Training Directors SIG, and serving as a panelist in The Path to Success: Insights from Key Learning Industry Leaders (September 2010). Anupa holds a Master’s Degree in Education in Adult Corporate Instruction Management from Loyola University of Chicago and has diverse experience in industries such as airlines, medical devices, restaurant and hospitality, consumer packaged goods, and others. She has also managed a wide variety of projects in functions such as manufacturing and distribution, government regulated environments, sales, customer interface, call center, software training, and others. Anupa has developed several, large-scale initiatives for global and corporate/division-wide implementation, and continues to build her expertise in the quickly evolving frontiers of technology and socially-based learning.

 
  Amy Lui Abel

Amy Lui Abel is Director of Leadership Development with Morgan Stanley University focusing on learning programs for executive leaders of the firm globally. With over 15 years experience at world-class companies, such as JPMorganChase, Adobe Systems, and Accenture, Amy has developed subject matter expertise in leadership and competency development, organizational needs assessment, design and delivery of learning programs, corporate universities, and change management initiatives. Amy has served as faculty at New York University Stern School of Business and as a board member for the ASTD New York Chapter. Amy is a contributing author to The SAGE Handbook of Workplace Learning (2010). Her research interests relate to human performance and learning, leadership and management development, and corporate learning organizations within companies. Amy holds several degrees, including a PhD, from New York University in information technology, business education, and organizational learning and performance.
 
  Clarke Griffith

Clarke Griffith has over 20 years of professional experience in the areas of learning and development, marketing, and advertising client management. In the training arena he managed several sales and service training organizations and has facilitator certifications in AchieveGlobal, project management, and sales training programs. Major accomplishments include the development and implementation of new-hire sales orientation, sales management curriculum, and trainer curriculum supporting 8,000 employees in 17 call centers. He is currently working on several consulting projects and is pursuing full-time employment in a senior L&D leadership or facilitation role. As an employee or independent contractor he has worked with brands including Verizon, Qwest, AARP, Network Solutions, and American Express. Clarke has extensive call center experience in the areas of program development and implementation, training, and quality assurance. Clarke joined ASTD New York in 2009 in an effort to expand his professional network and facilitate his transition back into Learning and Development. A year later after positive experiences attending monthly events, participating in the Transition SIG, and feeling strongly reconnected to the L&D community, Clarke decided to pursue a board position with ASTD NY. Clarke has a BA in English from Loyola University of Maryland. This past year he earned his PMP certification and completed a certification program in Instructional Design.
 
  Brenda Vallieu

Brenda Vallieu is the Manager of Training at Foot Locker, Inc. in Nov. 2010, where she assists in the redesign of company-wide training programs across four national brands, as well as supports HR compliance and FEP training initiatives. She works with department leaders to assess training needs, create and edit learning resources, and measure / analyze reults of a number of change management programs. In her former role, Brenda was Director of Training with Innovatix, LLC, a national group purchasing company for healthcare providers. She spearheaded and developed the company's first training department, and started a leadership program for newly promoted managers. Vallieu is a former 8th grade English teacher and coach, and also worked as a freelance copywriter for a range of small – large businesses. She earned her BA in English Secondary Education from The College of New Jersey, and her MA in Literature from Montclair State University. Brenda looks forward to contributing to the L&D community and the NYC ASTD Chapter in 2011.
 
  Richard Bittenbender

Richard Bittenbender is a Senior Vice President and head of Moody's Professional Development and Training program. Responsibilities under the program include providing both internal and external analytical and communications skills training to all of Moody's analytical staff in 25 countries around the world. Prior to assuming his current responsibilities Rich was an analyst on Moody's Transportation and Capital Goods team. He was responsible for a portfolio of aerospace in defense companies. Prior to assuming this portfolio Rich followed passenger airlines and air freight companies as well as high yield transportation companies operating in the shipping, trucking and aerospace industries. Prior to joining in 1997 Moody's, Rich was Executive Vice President in charge of credit and marketing at Bank Audi (USA) and held a variety of positions at the Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A. including corporate banking assignments in the United States and Asia. Rich received a B.A. degree in history from Wittenberg University. Rich has served on a variety of boards including Board of Directors, Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio Chair of the Audit Committee Board of Directors, Marburn Academy, Columbus, Ohio President of the Board for one term Board of Directors, Bank Audi USA.
 
  Barbara A. Reinhalter

Barbara A. Reinhalter is an independent consultant with over 15 years of Higher Education / Adult Learning experience, supported by over 10 years of financial trading experience (Citibank, Security Pacific Bank) serving domestic and international corporate clients. Managed projects for Columbia University in adult online learning, professional and corporate learning and development, as well as recruitment and institutional research. Earned B.A. from Skidmore College in Government and Economics, and a M.Ed. from Teachers College Columbia University in Sociology and Education, with focus on educational technology in adult learning. Member of ASTD New York Chapter since 2002.
 
  John M. Attinger

John Attinger works at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, a top-15 global law firm, as the Technology Training Manager. Since 2000, he has also worked at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP and O'Melveny & Myers LLP. as a Senior IT Trainer and a Regional Training Coordinator. In his current role, John manages a staff of 4 trainers in NY and London, oversees all training-related projects, manages an IT budget, and incorporates new technologies and creative ideas into the training program. He designed a corporate online university and managed the redesign of the website of a professional-interest organization. He has a special interest in the use of blended e-learning to engage students, and project managed the initial courses at Donald Trump's online university. John studied History (B.A.) at UC Berkeley, and Secondary Education (M.Ed.) at Teachers College, Columbia University. John lives in upper Westchester with his wife and two young children.
 
  Art Weiss

Art Weiss is a native of New York City, having grown up in Brooklyn and the Bronx. He left Pre-Medical studies to become a piano and music theory major at the Manhattan School of Music. After playing jazz gigs around New York and traveling with several shows, he began a brief two-week engagement with his trio at the New York Playboy Club. The job lasted fourteen years! Trained as a pianist from early childhood, Art expanded his musical vocabulary to include synthesizers and computers while leading a show trio at Playboy, and ultimately assumed the position of Director of the New York Playboy Entertainment Department. After Playboy, Art continued his career as accompanist and musical conductor for performers and is currently active as an accompanist to several singers on the New York cabaret circuit. He combines an active career as a musical conductor, vocal coach and performing pianist with musical composition. Art has strong organizational and computer skills, and has enjoyed serving the officers and members of ASTD New York since 1998.
 
  Damon Montal

Damon Montal has been a senior consultant at The Ayers Group since 1999, and has over twenty-five years of experience in sales, recruiting, and career management. As an Executive Career Transition Consultant, Damon is responsible for the full life-cycle training of individual clients during their career transition. Additionally, Damon plays a principle role in developing and delivering training seminars. He has created many powerful seminars, and has personally conducted hundreds of presentations and workshops on a variety of career management topics to all levels of candidates. Damon has been active in several professional organizations. He is a Certified Mediator with NY State Unified Court System and conducts Alternate Dispute Resolutions at small-claims court. He has held board positions at his Toastmasters’ chapter and ACPNY. For several years, he was a career mentor at Women-Unlimited. Damon was formally recognized by NYS Senator Thomas P. Morahan, NYS Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffe, and The County of Rockland- for Outstanding Service to the Community. Damon holds a BA in Psychology from SUNY at Plattsburgh and is an MA candidate in Organizational Behavior at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He obtained a post-graduate certificate from NYU in Adult Career Planning and Development and a certificate in Organizational Leadership from Fairleigh Dickinson. In 2007, Kelly Services recognized his ability by presenting him with the company’s most prestigious honor, The William Russell Kelly Award, recognized for global excellence.
